For several years now there have been complaints about our schedule. It's too soft, or there are not enough quality home games. While this years schedule looks promising, I started wondering if there was anything we could do as fans to try and improve our schedule. With that in mind I propose we run the following ad in the Arizona Daily Star:

"Hey Wildcats. Once again you have chosen not to schedule The University of New Mexico, depriving fans of both teams of a great regional rilvalry. The last time you played us was in 1999 (a game won by the Lobos). Isn't it about time for another home and home. Other Pac 12 teams (USC and Cal) have scheduled home and home series with us in the past 5 years, and so has your brother to the north. It's good to know that at least one school in the state isn't chicken. Heck, even your women's team has played a home and home series with our's. So I guess we know which one of your basketball teams wears the pants. It's time to man up kitties. Go Lobos! " Paid for by Lobo Men's Fans for Arizona Opposition

Why Arizona? Arizona is one of the closest D1 schools to us and we have not played them since 1999. In that time they have played:
BYU - 09,10
SDSU - 02,06,07,08,09,11
UNLV -06,07,08,09
Utah - 04,05
Wyo -04
NMSU - 06,10,11
Utep - 12, 14 (return game in 2 years)

Arizona has basically played every D1 team in the southwest during that period except us. They're obviously not afraid to play MWC teams, and they're not afraid to play in the state of New Mexico. They just don't want to play us. Who's afraid of the big bad wo..er Lobo? It appears that Arizona is, and it's about time they were called on it.

When? The ad would run on November 15th which is the day of Arizona's home game against UTEP. The goal is to force Sean Miller to answer the question why Arizona hasn't scheduled us since 1999. I'm sure he'd rather be talking about the UTEP game, but I'm also sure that someone will ask him a question about our ad during the press conference.

Do I think this will force Arizona to schedule us? No, not initially. This would be phase 1. We would need to do something annually on the date of their first big home game. By the third year I think we may get our desired effect. I envison phase 2 being a billboard outside the McKale Center with a cartoon picture of a lobo eating a wildcat. The caption would say, "Tatse Like Chicken".

I am by no means a professional ad writer. The ad I proposed is just that, a proposal. I welcome any and all input. The fact is I'm sure someone on this board will come up with something better. A half page ad in the Arizona Daily Star will cost $2,750. I will put up $250 toward this, but obviously I will need help if we are to pull this off. Anyone who would like to donate to this cause it would be greatly appreciated. I think we as lobo fans can make a difference. We shall see.

As a side note, since we are recruiting Arizona heavily, it can't hurt to have recruits see what a passionate fanbase we have.

Theyve carried the "chip" on their shoulder long enough. I say, first, lets mend the fences with Arizona so we can mop the floor with them later...or not. We wont know unless they step the hell up!

I'm in I think if we got the ok from the Big bad LOBO himself(coach) Im 100% in. We dont want to mess with anything that the staff has going...with that being said. There are other things we need to get the ball rolling on this year as well The Howl Raisers need to step it up they are getting better and all that good stuff but we/they need to step it up! we should do a all out invasion this year im talking billboard ads at the MWC tourney etc..we need to start putting our money where our mouth is. We are loud and proud but we definitely need to step it up! The show had a friken billboard outside of the T&M. Sorry to get off subject but..Something needs to be done! We need to show up and be creative and now is the time to start planning. We have a lot of dedicated fans and I think if someone took charge we could get a lot accomplished. I WILL DO IT FREE OF CHARGE. Point me to your leader....Mark UNMsid get at me brothers who is in charge of the Howl raisers would like to meet up with him.

I'm kind of hoping UNMSID will give us a little nudge nudge wink wink if we have something cooking with UofA in the future. Otherwise, I think we should go through with this.

U of A is a has been basketball program. I rather play ASU. Funny in 1999 the fans and U of A media said the Lobos conference was soooo weak and that is the reason why we played them tough. Now the PAC 12 basketball conference is sooo weak I rather not play them.

Things run in cycles. The PAC 12 was down last year but it won't be down every year. We are recruiting Arizona. We need to have a presence there, and we can't play ASU every year.

I want to play Arizona, but I think the ad sounds desperate and minor league. Let the powers that be work on that game. This won't do anything but make Lobo fans look bad. Sorry. JMO
