Probably because of existing contracts, that run through something like 2016? Sure hope something improves.
Aggie Vision has been around longer than the defunct MTN.TV. It is run by NMSU, but more importantly they have made alliances with Fox Arizona and now Altitude Sports (Colorado) even in HD. They are also on ESPN3 because of Aggie Vision. Though many of NMSU home football and basketball games were delayed on Fox Arizona, they are now being carried live sometimes on Altitude.
So why can't UNM consider the same for Lobo sports? Aggie Vision quality is no better than MTN.TV, but the MTN quality was secondary when it came to being able to watching practically every Lobo football and basketball game. I should know because I live outside of New Mexico. I don't care if the quality sucks or if the broadcasters are terrible. I just what viewing options. I bet Fox Arizona and Altitude would jump at the opportunity of getting part of the Albuquerque market. All UNM has to do is provide the production. Why not KNME or My50? They are sure to make a little money.
So why not Lobo Vision?

MWC should try to declare bankruptcy or disband to get itself out of the current tv contract. Or create another conference call it something WEST. I don't know why some of the left overs don't disband the MWC. They really need to get out of this tv contract.
How much does an HD truck cost?
I feel like an idiot! But I am an idiot so it kinda works out!

By disbanding the MWC we would lose autobids to all NCAA tourneys (and they now take eight years for a new conference to get them) plus the credits for post season play. Disbanding a conference to create a new one is ridiculous right now. New TV contracts are being negotiated right now. Things will change next year.
Because way back when, someone at NMSU had a vision! They knew that in way, way, out out of the way, Las Cruses... the only way anyone outside of NMSU was going to know they even existed, was to take advantage of the airwaves, create a vehicle to get/give access to anyone that was interested in anything NMSU... no one at UNM had that vision... plain and simple.
Let's not get to excited about AggieVision. NMSU spends a ton of money with no return on AggieVision. Because of the cost of AggieVision this looks like this will be the last year of the self produced production.
We have a small version of what NMSU has in My50TV. The problem is that it costs more money to produce it than UNM can bring in. We can't cover our cost. If Advertisers stepped up and offset the costs of producing the games then yes it would be great. But it doesn't happen like that anymore. Fans want games for free.
It's amazing that in an era of high tech where everything is supposedly getting better we are stuck in reverse.![]()

To do means to have the money to do it with... I had also heard this year was the last of Aggie Vision. Losing too much money.
That's not the big cost. The big cast is the broadcast itself. HD broadcasts require 4 to 6 times as much bandwidth over the airwaves and as a result cost around $75k to $100k per hour. HD over the internet is far less expensive and requires the end user to pay for the bandwidth (ESPN3).

WOOF WOOF WOOF
That was all over the papers and the net when BYU went indy. That's how BYU got Texas on their schedule.
The LHN is owned by ESPN. Texas would be on ESPN or ABC most of the time. But in those games where they are on LHN when playing teams like the Lobos then they would have access to the BYU HD Truck.
It ain't no secret.
saying aggie vision was better then the coverage that the Lobos get doesn't make any sense to me. First off aggie vision isn't a channel its what they call their broadcast. At no time during the existence of the MTN. did the aggies even come close to having as many games on TV as we did with the Mtn. furthermore even with out the MTN. I bet we have more games on TV this season then the Aggies will have... here is a link if you don't believe me.

so spare me this crap about how "no one at UNM had a vision" like they do at nmsu. putting your games on tv for regional broadcast is no new thing. You guys who think aggievision is so great all realize that espn 3 is not having your games on tv right?, its a internet feed. This is the first year with out the MTN. As for this season, yes it sucks that details are still being sorted out but things are going to get better. As is you are still going to have way more coverage of your team then they do at NMSU.

did you read the link? all of our games are on tv this year except for the first one. thats 12 games on TV. you are right though. when NMSU has to schedule 7 road/money games a year they will probably be on tv a lot.
and when we start winning more then 4/5 games a year again i bet espn2 will pick our games up a few times a year too. just like they always did before 2005 when the Mtn. started up.

I hope thats the case, as for the article, I hate the journal and will never pay to read any of their dribble. Can someone hook us non journal subscribers with a synopsis of the tv schedule? Golobos.com is still showing the NMSU game as the only TV game.
