    Cole Gautche

So how surprised are you with our player of the game... Cole Gautche?

I was rather shocked myself. I knew he would get some play time, but WOW. From backup to Player of the GAME!!!

Just his name alone makes him sound like he will be a stud QB. If he can get his passing down, he may end up in the big leagues

The positive comparisons to Tim Tebow are uncanny. For a freshman, his intangibles are off the charts. Many of his tangibles aren't bad either.

The kid is just a winner. Smart, didn't he carry close to a 4.0 in high school? Prototypical size (6'4" 220), Proven winner (state playoffs, player of the year). One read and go or throw quarterbacks (Tebow, Cam Newton, Marcus Meriota at Oregon.) are the rage in today's college football. I really think Cole could develop into a star in the pistol offense. He's already going to contribute significantly this year. By the time he's a junior or senior, he could be the leader of a resurrected Lobo team. Exciting times.

Guy's a stud. He will break all kinds of QB rushing records. I know his passing is certainly a work in progress, but he is obviously the future here.

He can flat out throw the ball with accuracy and touch as he showed last year shredding high school defenses. He just needs to learn how to read college defenses and adapt to the speed of the college game.
Once he demonstrates that, he will be our starter for years to come.

He had a great game and his performance was fun to watch. That said, if he plays against UT he'll get hit harder than he's ever been hit in his life. Hope he stays healthy.
Also, when they announced his name during the game the phrase, "Cole Gautche, Heisman Trophy Winner" popped into my head.

It's going to be interesting to see how he responds. Texas' offense has some pretty serious issues, but defensively they have a lot lot of speed and talent. Their defensive ends are both All-Big 12 caliber players. Okafor is nasty and could be an All-American this year.

Cole will get a rude welcome to college football in Austin this week. I just hope he doesn't get down on himself when times are tough. He will be a great one.

We need to really throw the ball a lot more or teams are going to stack the box.

The kid is 6'4 and about 230 and seems to have good football IQ! I realize that UT is talented on defense but i dont care how talented you are if there is a football player running at you and has those intangibles you speak of and that kind of size im sure he would hold his own. The smart thing is not to get hit to many times lol!! I looked at UT's roster am telling outside of depth they arnt that much bigger than we are either!!

I am sure BR will be the starter but when Cole gets in I am sure it will be surreal. He played football in Texas, I believe Corpus Cristi his freshman and sophmore years. This will be a dream come true, except he will be on the other sideline. He will be pumped and he will be fine. Kid is smart and athletic. UNM will surprise!!! Go LOBOS!

I watched all of Clevelands games last year as my kid is in the band. Cole was the one guy who stood out physically and talent wise every game.
I told my wife that it was eerily similar to watching Url his Jr/Sr years as a Lobo, the one guy out of 22 you could not take your eyes off of.
We can't predict the future for Cole but with his smarts and frame and good coaching he could be a Lobo Legend also.

I too watched Cole while he played at Cleveland....along with Romel Jordan (who is also going to be a Lobo), they displayed some exceptional talent. These two young men are going to make their names known in Lobo lore down the road. But as for now, Cole is still learning the College game and can only get better. BR has been very instrumental in helping Cole. There is no question that BR has more experience and had he not gotten hurt or passed over by a partison previous coach, his numbers would be very impressive. I like both of our QB's and under Coach Davie and Staff, they seem to have improved immensely. GO LOBOS!!
