Texas Tech BB player says he won't play if Coach Gillespie comes back!

Jordan Tolbert...Texas Tech's leading scorer last year says he has had it with current coach Gillespie. However, He may play for an Asst Coach.

Actually I'm hearing that if Gillispie were not around for the season that Walker would not be the interim.

Actually before this came out Gillispie was reprimanded by Tech in January for rules violations which included extended practices which were an NCAA violation. He also was reprimanded for the treatment of his players and coaches. There was an assistant who was also reprimanded and it is believed to have been Walker.

Right now Walker is the interim because Gillispie made the call before entering the hospital. If Gillispie is fired or suspended then the Admin and AD will make the call and it points to being someone other than Walker.

The guy should transfer to UNM at the semester break and come play for a real coach.

Read recently that Gilespie is on indefinite medical leave. Two things I gather from that...

Gilespie probably saw the writing on the wall that he was going to be canned and developed a medical condition that would let him keep his position for an indefinite period of time. Apparently TT can't fire him if he is on medical leave.

Also TT keeps him out of a decision making position where the BB team is concerned while they figure out a way to replace him without having to pay a large chunk of $$$.

Anyway you look at it TT has a dilemma on their hands and it may take a while for them to recover. I remember one of the first things Gilespie did when he was hired by TT was to take UNM of his schedule. He may be dumb but he is not stupid, or is it the other way around?
