Lobo Bball ? Ticket Sales ?

Does anyone know of preliminary numbers from yesterday's ticket sales??? I'm just curious to know if the "joe schmos" are gobbling up the tickets in anticipation of the season or if it's the "wait and see" mentality. :look

I would expect to see a lot of people getting single game tickets before taking the plunge on season tickets. It has been possible to get pretty good seats for single games the last few years. As much as I would like to see the Pit sell out all the time, I sometimes appreciate the fact that no one has the seats right in front of me or right next to me. We'll see in exactly one month.

Van Tate said that 1st day ticket sales were double last year's amount - last year was 90 (?) and this year's were 182(?) for first day. Good start.......

I'm trying to find the article that said how many had renewed their season tickets. From what I understand, it was a pretty high figure. Does anyone remember?

Last night all the news stations were doing an update on that. Tate said that we were already at last year's level of 9,000 Season Tickets sold. On day 1 we sold double what we sold on day last year ~ 180 vs 90 (I heard the same as Duke on this). So the subcription rate this year is definitely off to a good start. I don't know the historical numbers sold. Not sure if we end up at 11,000 or more and if so, how that compares with season ticket sales in past years. Sounds like a good article for Mark Smith or another journalist to write. Not a knock on Mark, btw. But to me this is an appropriate time to start discussing ticket sales and to offer up stats and comparisons to past years.

    Talk about bad timing! lol

I am still a student until January. So I will still be eligible for FREE tickets.
However, I was seriously considering ordering season tickets and reserving my spot for years to come!
    Talk about tough decisions.

To make a long story short....

I went to the PIT office today....and I reserved my spot of season tickets!
Sec. 19 ROW 25. It is right across the LOBO bench and they allow you to pay the high donation requirement on a monthly basis if you want to. I ended up deciding it was better to get them early and get them reserved for future seasons.

I am still gonna get my FREE student tickets as well since I still want to experience that for one more season.

Honestly I think alot of people may take a "wait and see" approach and rely on single-game tickets....and then during the off-season people will scramble to the ticket-office and place their order under the new regime of the Houston Fab-Five. While this season is surely destined to be better than last yrs team.....we are still under a brand new philosphophy and we need to make sure all the kinks are out and the current players can adjust to the new gameplan.

I believe for Fran's first season we sold like 14K season tickets. If I remember correctly. Which is always a hit or miss proposition.

I was thinking the same thing rick, but wasn't sure about the number. That was up from previous years, IIRC. Wasn't around 12k the norm during the latter Bliss years?

Okay, that provides good perspective. We've dropped quite a bit from the 12k-14K run rate during the peak years. Got some work to do, even if we back to 11K this year, which isn't guaranteed. If may take 2 or 3 years to get back to historically high levels.

A young man we call our "other son", because he is, ha ha, said he was thinking of renewing his tickets that he had not kept over the last five or so years, said there was a lot of interest in "the New Lobos". I told him to buy extra in case I happened to make it up!!!

WOW, SPANNA that is a tough decision--especially for a student (who don't always have a ton of money laying around). You have proven that you are a big time Lobo Fan. Money talks and . . . .
