    Las Vegas Tournament

    First Post Banner
Question - As first year fans, where do people typically stay when the team goes to the tournament in Las Vegas in March? Where does the team stay? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

I am not sure where the teams will be staying this year. I thought I had heard that all the teams will be at The Hard Rock Hotel Casino, but don’t quote me on that. I know in the past the Lobo Ladies had been staying at South Point.
One thing I am sure of is that room rates will be expensive. There are several basketball tournaments and a NASCAR race during that week in Las Vegas.

Lobo Club or the Pit ticket office should know where the team is staying. Last couple of years they were at the Mirage. We stayed next door at Treasure Island for about half the price. I like to stay in the same hotel as the team when it makes sense to do so. Sid reads once in a while, he might volunteer the information.

A thread posted about 4 weeks ago said the men are staying at the RIO according to conference web site.

I looked on the conference website, but did not find any info. Has anybody seen it on the website?

I believe I remember hearing that this year... Vegas is really busy that week and the team isn't staying on the strip... and that hotel rooms are extremely expensive due to demand that week.

I thought... in years past... the athletic department offered a fan package... including hotel room?

    STAY WITH YOUR TEAM!
Check out these host hotels for special rates!

Host of MW Men's and Women's Teams

This is on the MWC website page for the 2017 women's basketball championship. I'd contact them to see if they have reservations for the team before getting my on.

Yes, the Rio is not on the strip and that is where I heard the team is staying. It is just a few blocks west of the strip. 3700 W. Flamingo, Las Vegas, NV.

I’m laughing at that special MWC rate at The Rio. On March 8 it is $303, plus a $30 resort fee. That is for their cheapest room.
Don’t be fooled by just a few blocks west of the Strip. It is on the other side of the interstate and a long walk. There is a shuttle that runs from the Rio to the Strip (The Linq).

Harrahs also has a shuttle, about ever 20 min or so.

for those of you who have been to Vegas, "its right there, I can see it from here, what's 3 or 4 blocks"?

The real question is how deep are your pockets? That is an extremely busy Vegas weekend so even dives are gonna be $100/night. My suggestion is if you don't have transportation, stay home. If you do have transportation and don't mind commuting, look into Primm, Jean, Boulder City and Mt Charleston. You should be able to get something for slightly less than $100 that is a step up in quality for what you can get in town for that price.

We always stay at the South Point several times a year. Because of NASCAR our rates there are double + this year and that is WAY off the strip. Going to be an expensive week if you go for the women and men games.

We got a decent rate going through AirB&B.

This is just another reason to dislike NASCAR! ;)

Speaking of South Point, they are running a sale, but it ends tomorrow so act fast. $200/night is a bargain for that weekend.
