8:30 left in first half and WYO is 8-11 from 3. They are torching the nets. WYO is looking strong right now.
WYO has hit 12-17 3 pointers. WOW! 57-39 WYO at half.
Wyo with 11 3's in the first half
Guess we're not the only team having trouble defending the three...
I want to know how seemingly every team has guys that can hit open threes....except us :-(
Have we lost the three point shooting battle in every game this year both in terms of numbers made and percentage made? I don't know that's why I ask.
Pretty close.

Defensing the three - Consistent Hard close outs with a LARGE sense of urgency is & ALWAYS with a hand up (pretty much other than Joe) is what we have lacked all year IMO. Shooting the three- our offense has produced open shots but we haven't hit them - EB is very inconsistent this year & no by else has stepped up consistently (perhaps Dane is about there). Just my opinion.
Actually, Wyoming shots a lot of three pointers. They are 35th in three pointers made but only 261st in percentage made. By comparison, UNM is 344th in three pointers made and 313rd in percentage made.
The team that could torch us is Air Force. They are 73rd in three pointers made but are 18th in their shooting percentage. Good thing we only play them once!

EB is 10-22 since conference season began on three pointers. I feel comfortable that he's back to the same form he was last year. At this point I think he and Dane are our only true three point threats.
A lot of that has to do with our lineups and our offense. We didn't play Kuiper much until recently, and have barely played Mathis. They are two of the best shooters on our team. We also rarely penetrate and kick, or pass out of the post for an open three (we started doing the latter more, but it is too little too late). Logwood is oddly scared to shoot the three, even though he has a good three point shot. Looking at our team it seems like we could at least be an average three point shooting team, but instead try to force everything inside.
We have to shoot more 3s, period. At least 20 per game. Even if we only make 31% which is our current average. Some of the missed 3s turn into offensive rebounds because they rebound off so far. It is not always a dead possession. It will loosen up the inside making post play for Tim easier and he will wear done less.
Frankly, some of our ugliest basketball has taken place after we’ve missed 3s. Those long rebounds have helped the opposing teams come up with a lot of easy buckets. If you’re gonna take threes, you’d better make a good percentage of them, if not prepare to see a lot of uncontested or lightly contested layups and and-ones.
That's a transition defense problem that burns the team when there is long defensive rebound or when we turn the ball over on triple team on TW before he even has the ball. If we keep passing up 3s, even the ones 2-3ft behind the line, the post play progressively suffers as the game goes on.
