Let's get to the bottom of it Lobo fans .....

    First Post Banner
Versus this past season to what financial degree will you support the men's team next season. Let me clarify that the support could have been attendance, Lobo Club, watching on TV so sponsors received benefit, or some combination thereof.

Stop spamming the board with multiple threads.
My position as a moderator adds no validity to my opinions. I am a fan just like you and as such when I express a view it represents me and me alone and carries no more weight than any other fan other than the fact that I am always right. (Like everyone else.)

It will be easy to mathematically average the results for next year's financial support. It will be an opening barometer for next year. And, in all fairness, that barometer could change somewhat before next year.

We'll see about all of it.

My financial support will be unchanged from this year. I'll buy my three season tickets and make the usual contribution to the Lobo Club--nothing huge, as I can't afford it, but it will remain as before.

Wait until next year. Year after year, Lobo fans had to hear it. So, at this point, it is reasonable that some fans want change now. Certainly, this recruiting class needs to include players that can step in and play at a high level immediately next season. Otherwise, this board may get ugly quickly.

    Go Lobos
“My friends,” Dr. King said in his Detroit sermon, “all I’m trying to say is that if we are to go forward today, we’ve got to go back and rediscover some mighty precious values that we’ve left behind. That’s the only way that we would be able to make of our world a better world, and to make of this world what God wants it to be. . . .”

I once was shown a graph by a former boss that went from 100% down to something like -300% and I pissed him off by pointing out that there was a lot more opportunity for failure than success relative to his graph. Your poll here reminds me of the same thing. I know it might be mind blowing but someone out there might actually increase their level of support.

Huh? Everyone is free to choose a 100% level of support. There doesn't have to be a bell-shaped (or in this case so far a U-shaped curve).

You're not getting it. We'll use round numbers for this example. If I financially supported the team with $100 this season but plan on supporting with $110 next season that would be 110%. Your poll numbers listed only allow for the exact same amount (100%) of support or less. No need to PM by the way. Just keep it on the forum so my feelings don't get hurt.

OK. CLARIFICATION EVERYONE. 100 % means 100 % or more.

Statistically speaking, if many more people were at the 100 % mark, this would be more of a consideration. But as you can see, the U-shape to the curve is weighted heavily to the below 100 % values.

    Does that hurt your feelings?

How much a person has been contributing has a factor in this as well. I'll usually buy a shirt or two during the span of a year. I've averaged about 2 games a year over the last 5. I don't see myself not buying a shirt or missing a chance to catch one or two games because of hard times like this. Now if I lived closer, especially in ABQ, I'd likely reserve my choices and attend less games until the team was proving a trend toward solid play.

Whatever the heated emotions among many of us. A winning streak would cure a lot. And if it wouldn't cure it, the symptoms would be stabilizing for sure.

Note that there is no 0%. The low-point is 5%. Statistically speaking this should easily cover the overage above 100, because I'd be pretty sure some of the 5% respondents would be 0%.

Hence the U-shaped curve for the distribution. The early results, if they were to hold for a long period of time, would predict a bad immediate future financially for Lobo hoops. Technically things could change, but you'd have to say there's a clear trend. And when it's done Wednesday morning it will be mathematically possible to make a financial prediction.

I will say, though, that some of the very low ones could come up a bit over time (this summer or fall) with regard to their financial intent.

I honestly think it may take a 15 % price reduction. They've got to do something to maintain some interest, because this HC sure won't be able to do it.

I intend to increase my Lobo Club contribution. I am inclined to withhold judgment on the coaching until I see what can be done with the same players contributing for an entire season. Hard to judge that with the number of missed games by key players the last 3 years. I was encouraged by the Senior game day attendance and do not think that it will take a whole lot more success in the win loss column to get back to what has been a usual fan attention enthusiasm.

In support of Alamo's point about attendance. A winning streak of consequence would equal many tickets sold.

Predicting poll results, I think percentage-wise most of the extreme views have come in already. I think from here the "U" may begin to fill in a little. Keep in find, however, that's not a good financial projection for UNM hoops.

The longer it sits, the more worried I would be the poll could get distorted by becoming a reflection of recruited voters/campaigning, if someone decided to do that. hopefully not.

On the other hand, how do you sample the fans who don't follow so close or participate in forums. Some may just always go for a game a year or every other year and just go regardless of status, never visit forums. But maybe Others may replace the product.

You may know all you may know, right now (fairly avid followers who use forums).....or maybe not....lol, that was helpful wasn't it? Good poll idea though. Thanks.

Yeah. Right now it seems hopeless, as I believe we'll have to endure him for two more years (Krebs' term). I'm in my mid-60's. Not sure I feel like outlasting him like I have the other less successful coaches we've had. I've had tickets for over 40 years and have missed four games in the Pit during that time, so this will be a very difficult decision for me. Therefore I haven't even responded to the poll.

Thanks.
The poll ends Wednesday morning. So maybe it will remain relatively unpolluted.
