Alford to Indiana???
Very interesting. Does UCLA flame out in the first game (3 vs 14)? And Alford leaves 9 days later to return to his kingdom?
Maybe Stevie gets the keys to the castle and takes Neal with him for a storybook ending???
Never happen, I know, but then, when UCLA fired Howland four years ago, I never dreamed they'd go after Alford, nor did thousands, if not hundreds of thousands Bruin fans.
So, a guy can dream, can't he?

Please make it so.
The Golden Boy goes home to Bloomington. And takes his best bud with him. Great for Indiana, UCLA and UNM. Everybody wins.
Alford is happy where he is. You don't mess with Happy.
Please god, I hope this happens.
Back home again in Indiana!!!
Can IU afford the buyout ?
This is the one job where Alford feels an allegiance to especially with Bryce graduating and Ball leaving

If Alford finally goes to Indiana my anger over what he did to us (the way he did it) will finally end. Not sure why that changes my anger for how he left us, but for some reason it does.
If Alford was still here, this would have been the job he would have been waiting for.
If there was a time to leave, it would be this year. Bryce is graduating. Hamilton is graduating. Ball is leaving. Leaf most likely will be going pro. Gonna be a very different team next year.
If Alford leaves is there a possibility he considers offering Noodles his old job back with him at Indiana??
Imagine if Alford was still here right now .... We'd be staring 4-5 years of Neal ERA in the face. (shudder)
i Think we are starring at at least 2 more..... Shudder lol
His record at Indiana wasn't as good as I thought.
I think he might come here if offered, but Neal probably won't be fired.
15 days until March 31st.
1. Crean has similar clause as Neal. If he takes another job, that salary is subtracted from the buyout (I'm pretty sure).
2. This would be the prodigal son returning home if Alford went to IU. He played there and was a living IU legend while doing so. Knight was and is still a mentor. The connections are too strong and the allure is all too real.
I believe this is Alford's job to turn down.
Also, if he goes to IU...LOOKOUT! I say it will reinvigorate that program and he will do his best coaching yet while at IU.
Heard on another site that the AD was hoping that he would take the Missouri job if offered which he was and when he declined the AD was going to give him one more year. The Board of Trustees got wind of that and put the veto on that and made the final decision.
