2 each. I have been a Lobo fan since 1993. Never thought I'd see the day when Football and Basketball would achieve parity at UNM. Easy to argue that going bowling is ridiculously easy now compared to making it to the big dance, granted.

Yeah, both programs are pretty much even when it comes to the postseason since 1999....the football team has been to 7 Bowls and the Men's basketball team has been to 6 NCAA Tournaments. I feel very confident the football team will add an 8th appearance next year. Go Lobos (all programs)!!!
Football, in college sports, is the sport that is more important. I would like the Lobos to have good Football and Basketball programs. However, of the two, give me football any day. UNM football on a New Mexico clear autumn afternoon, it's as good as it gets.
I like both programs equally. We need both and we need both to win and they both need to win games.
I love both Lobo football and basketball.
Writing that, I do believe football is more important towards funding and the future of Lobo Athletics. The football head coach has done wonders with the program; the opposite is true of men's BB. There is hope for the future of Lobo Football while UNM BB seems mired in mediocrity.
College sports ride the back of college football, football drives the bus.
According to Wikipedia, the Lobos beat #14 seed Montana in 2010 and #12 seed Long Beach St in 2012. Before that, the last win was in 1999. I said "since" 1999, meaning after the Bliss era. Bliss' teams won one NCAA game each year from 1996 to 1999.
In football, we won bowl games in 2007 and 2016. Before that, it was 1961 for our last bowl win.
64% the schools make it to a bowl game every year. In contrast only about a 6th of schools make it to the NCAA Tournament. Not exactly apples to apples.
