I've been trying to tell you guys they aren't good fits for the style he wants to play, nor the amount of bigs he wants to have on the roster.

Guys who have been here and played for UNM buying in to Weir is totally different than recruits. I'd rather Weir go get his own guys and make this thing his own. But then again I don't really care how many games we win next year either. I just want to see the guys buy in and develop a culture of playing hard on D and rebounding. The year after that when Weir has a year under his belt then we can fill out the roster better. I believe getting away from Noodles toxic culture and making this program his own is more important for Weir than losing a few recruits.

Hypothetically...how would these playets panned out for Neal? Me personally I think average at best. 2 years mininmal playing time and then transfer out. He obviously felt they were not right fit and not talented enough for his style of play

Tough to hear, but not necessarily a surprise. Interesting how we start getting locked in to players once they've signed, once they do - they're Ours. Best of luck to all 3.

Disappointed, but if coach feels they don't fit his style than its better to release them now than take up a scholarship to only transfer out or spend four years on the bench.
Have to give a new coach time to build the program how he wants it before I judge. Let's see who he brings in with these schollies in the next year or so. Do we go for the quick fix with JC guys or graduate transfers? Or does he get the ground running with next years class and take some lumps early. Who knows.

Progress, getting better... thats what I care about. I can deal with Losing if I know we ultimately are going in the right direction. The last 3 years there was none of that with our basketball program. Losing bothers me when it is completely hopeless.

Go find a post from me wanting Davie fired his first 3 years... You wont find it because it doesn't exist.

Many are assuming this is all Weir' decision. Chandler may have, for instance, just as easily have decided UNM was no longer the right fit for him. He does not have time at UNM to feel depth of loyalty.

Weir is now now going to go out and get others who want to be here, although most of the quality players currently available are transfers. There are a few freshmen left, but he may elect to hold a couple of scholarships for next year.

As for the "perfect" fit? Typically you won't know that until the player is here for a little bit.

Not at all surprised by this. Looking forward to whomever Weir can recruit this late in the season. It will probably be a rough year, but I'm still excited!

Like some have said, anyone new coming in are all Weir's guys, providing a clear runway for his program to to "take flight" sooner and faster. And hopefully higher. I'm very excited about how he fills these roster spots - hopefully with impact transfers or other guys that are reopening their recruitment.

It is what it is! We may be down regarding the leaving recruits...but we are not out. Clinton and Simon could be the talent in Coach Weirs offense that will be a surprise. Our returning players are not slouches....just unleash them and let them explode with their own talents. I am not totally disappointed. I'm thinking positive and wishing for the best. Go Coach...Show us a new direction..a winning direction!! GO LOBOS!

I think Chandler showed some promise and would have done well under Weir, but the guy who recruited him is gone so you can't really blame him.

We really need Combs now, or some other big forward.

Nobody really developed under Neal so how they would do under him isn't that relevant.

I think part pf the problem with the 6-9 Chandler and Parks was their weight. Listed as 260 and 270 lbs, it seems they would have a hard time keeping up in running a fast paced offense. Simon was just a project who could run, but had little scoring ability at this time,

Chandler was supposedly down to 240.
