I want to argue with the article, but defense has been our weak spot! LOL
Go Lobos! Go Nunn! Go Sam! Go Joe!

all of the prognosticators have underestimated the Lobos every year since Davie has been here - I predict, this year is not different; however, CSU has been or Achilles heal and its time to turn that around.

I would say we belong with all the tier 2 teams, easily.

Probably we are tier 2 but I still have hope that a tier 1 team is in the making.

Offensively, easily. Defensively, we have a lot to prove. It was really bad early last year and got decent towards the end of the season, but we have to replace a lot of those starters with young players and newcomers. So it's very much a question mark, and he pretty much says that.

If the defense can be even average by the time the bulk of conference play starts, we should be on par with those Tier 2 teams, maybe even Tier 1. But it's all about how quickly the JUCOs can adjust to the speed of D1 football.

In his breakdown of UNM, he admits that the prediction model is a little off for option-based teams. I think he said we win on average 2 games more than the prediction model dictates. However, he can't assume that continues every year, so he makes the analysis off of the prediction model. Which is exactly what he should be doing.

The good news is that if the trend holds true, we win 6 or 7 games and go bowling again.

I agree that defense has a way to go, but this writer has foolishly written before that New Mexico's defense has not improved under Davie.

That proves this gut has not paid attention. It used to be that the only way New Mexico got the ball back was by giving up the touchdown or the opponent inexplicably following. The last few years there have been some stops, a number of them at critical times during a game, or New Mexico would not be improving.

Where the problems have primarily been is at the beginning of the season with horribly slow starts.
