TLL- What do you want to bring to college?

MS- I'm just trying to stay healthy so when I get here I can be ready for what coach Alford and coach Neal and everybody has in store for me.

TLL- Have they told you what you need to improve on?

MS-They did. They said I need to improve on my rebounding ability and just handling the ball more.

TLL- Everyone seems to like Coach Walker. What do you think of him and how is he hard on you guys?

MS-(Laughing) I love him! Well, he gives you a hard time but he wants you to work harder. Its in your best interest because he wants you to succeed same goes for all of the coaches here.

TLL- Has anyone from the current team taken you under their wing and kinda mentored you?

MS-(Laughing) Yeah, (Laughing) Roman Martinez and Chad Toppert have been my mentors here. (Laughing)

TLL- What have they told you?

MS-(Laughing) A bunch of stuff. They both said its going to be hard but but if you stick with it your going to succeed because Coach Alford isnt going to let you fail and its just going to be a blast when you get here.

TLL- Hows school going?

MS-Schools going fine!

TLL- Hows the wrist?

MS-Oh, its better, its a whole lot better.

TLL- So how did your summer team do?

FENTON-They stink!

MS-(Laughing) Hes just mad because we beat him in AAU!
We did very well in Vegas. A lot of our guys are going to some big schools. We played against some of the best talent in the nation, John Wall, Kenny Boyton. Out of 350 kids in Vegas we got to the final 4 so we played well.

TLL- So is Wall the real deal?

MS-Oh , he is!

FENTON-No hes not! (motioning to his neck to stop)

MS-Jamal thinks he can take him!

TLL- So, the real question is who won? Jamals team or Staffs team?

MS- We won by 15.(Laughing)

FENTON- Quite lying!

MS-Im not lying! His guy wasn't here so hes making excuses, Winners dont make excuses Jamal!

MS-Hes just mad because we beat them by 15! (Laughing)

Honest, the guys are hilarious! They are truly genuine friends. Its good to listen to them rib each other back and forth. Matts a great kid. He reminds me of Faris.

We could sure use another Daniel Faris next year. What a great asset he has been to the team. And being local is just an extra bonus. I'm sure some of the Force players are impressed with what Daniel has accomplished. If Matt is even close to the player Daniel has been we will have another gem on the team.

We are going to be loaded at the wing. And each of our guys at that position will bring different strengths. Alfords going to be like a surgeon dissecting the game. Scalpel, please!

Matt is a player no doubt about it, he is not just a member of the AAU team he is a leader. Matt looks like a basketball thinking kinda guy. I think he will surpass what Daniel has done for the Lobos, I am looking for Faris to be more aggressive this year because he has more outside shooters so he is not doubled down low and he hit more 3 pointers than I thought he would.
