It is unfortunate but not surprising. This is a full ride scholarship sport and we have very good players in this regional area & the facilities are decent. She was a great player in college, but did not roll over to coach as one would hope for. Good luck to Erica.

    Go Lobos!

I think you are correct with that take.

Rarely recruited players out NM. Beach never made a trip to Rio Rancho to recruit at any players and was rarely at games at local club teams last 3 summers. Maybe some these players would have at least visited UNM.

Eastdale Little League not too recently won the minor league National Championship in Willamsburg, Pa and many many young women coming out of the metro area as well as Rio Rancho and the entire state were not recruited well. This program used to be ranked in the top 25.

Yes, there actually 3 players from Volcano Vista, but with talent in NM there should be at least 10 players from NM on the roster. Heck there are at least 4 players on walking around UNM campus right now that are better then some players on the roster To many NM d-1 players went other schools , because she chose to go with her fathers players instead.

Many, many thanks for that post as you are 100 percent correct...

I was told that Ron Nims was The leading candidate last time, then a week later they hired Beach... huge mistake Nims would have 3 MWC titles by now.

I don't have link to Ron's bio, I know he's written a book about hitting and was team Canada hitting coach. I am not sure if he 'd have interest in the job this time around.

In the few Lobo Softball games I saw, some of the players didn't appear to have the best physical conditioning.

Hire Piper Ritter. She is currently the pitching coach for Minnesota softball. Minnesota is 54-3 this year.
Pipper Ritter is from Farmington, NM. She pitched for Farmington HS. She pitched for Minnesota too.

This is not entirely true. She has two girls (seniors) from La Cueva who are committed to play for next year, one from Sandia (junior) committed to play for her following year and another one from the La Cueva (sophomore) thinking about playing for her two year from now. She also has a LA Cueva player playing for her now along with the three volcano vista girls.
These four girls all played on the Eastdale championship team
Ron Mimms is applying for the job. Shelby Pendley had a meeting to discuss Ron Mimms with Krebs yesterday and Ron should have a interview today

Mimms would be a great hire here. He's been proven. He's in the USSSA circuit so he has connections to recruitment. What he did with both Pendley sisters was remarkable. Hopefully he can bring Shelby back to coach. Much of the La Cueva success is because of Mimms. Would be great to see McCalister and Howard (the two seniors I believe that signed here), and Hathoot the sophomore who has drawn interest stay as Lobos.

Actually, Jessica McCallister is going to Montana. Taylor Jones and Andrea Howard are going to UNM. Then you have Bailey from Sandia who is a junior now. Rachael is undecided but who knows what the future holds.
The problem with Shelby is that she is playing pro ball and hopes to go across sea's to play.

Recruit the Farmington area, too. Lots of strong programs up there with Piedra Vista (9 titles since 2006), Aztec (just won state with like 5 runner-up finished since 2010) and Farmington High (8 titles since 94).

just from reading the input regarding possible hires....I tend to lean towards the Piper Ritter candidate..if she would be interested. AD Krebs will make a good choice.

This is s hire that needs NM connections, knows the lay of land. I think both would be great. Heck if Coach Ray can do with local talent, why not next softball coach?! Again like baseball the search for pitching would be the key for this program
