    Saltes

    First Post Banner
I kept seeing Saltes on the sidelines today. It wasn't until I got home that I saw a tweet from Portnoy, I believe, that said Saltes has been moved to the offensive line. I was not looking for him there so I missed him playing. It looks like our backup defensive line is Baker, Joseph, and Conyers but I haven't seen a 2-deep chart yet. Flowers was dressed but I don't think he played because of an injury. There are some other good lineman that I may have missed. I was impressed with our linebackers too. Inexperienced but we have some good JUCO's and redshirts.

Saltes has the prototypical size you see from a LT.

Offense too me didn't look as sharp as it was in the spring game. But this was the 6th straight day of practice without a break. This is the only camp practice I've been to. Thought defense looked better. The 1s defense seemed improved and seemed to be closing up on the 1s offense. The 2s defense to me played better than than the 2s offense. Just my casual observations.

Yes, the D was dominant today from what I saw from the stands. Eli Lilly returned an interception nearly 80 yards and was tackled just short of a pick 6. Several balls were batted down, and the blizzard got to the QB's. The Offense also had no long runs as the D stayed in their gaps. The Offense did connect on 2 To passes, one a bomb from Lamar to HART - JOHNSON when he out leaped Boat right. Teton is indeed now with the O line and had some reps today. He is an incredible physical specimen at 6-5, 275.

If your defense cant stop your own offense in practice that they see everyday the majority of the time then you dont have a chance. its good to see them improved form last year especially up front. I know the oline has been working more on the 2's trying to figure out who is going to fill some spots and the right combination for the regular season. last season judging by spring and fall camp you would have thought our offense was in trouble and it worked out VERY well.

Former Valley Viking and highly recruited, Teton Saltes seemed to be fitting in on the UNM Defensive Line in his now Redshirt freshman year.

Saltes has NFL caliber talent at DE but he also could have a longer career at LT. He has the length, strength, and quick feet to play the position at a high level. I just whatever decision is made it suites both us and his future career.
