Someone posted in another thread he returned to light practice this week and is expected back soon, but no timetable has been set. Weir doesn't expect him to miss the entire season.

No one wants to know my thoughts but I will say, I've rolled my ankle 3 times since CMAC was cleared by an Honest-to-God doctor.

Also, our problems are bigger than just Connor so if he wants to try save a year or play it's not going to change the outcomes much. Also have concerns about a big man just being able to jump into this frantic style of play, the guys who have been conditioning all season can hardly keep up. Whose spot would he take Joe or Sam ?

Initially, I think he spells Joe mostly so he is not so tired at the end of the game. Sam could use a bit of time as well. Conner gives us another big body but with a bit more offense than Joe.

I have not read the whole thread in a while but redshirting is not an option for Connor. It has to be a season ending injury like Cullen's ankle. Connor's is not and he would not be able to say that he was unable in any way to come back. that being said, I sure hope he heals and comes back soon. not for us, but for him. it is beyond sad that anyone would question his heart. go Connor!

Connor has played 292 total minutes of D1 basketball. Pinchuk has already 160 with this current team and with somewhat similar stats. It is probably becoming a little too much to expect that the return of even a 100% healthy Connor is going to move the needle much on where were are as a team. Another big would help of course but we need to be realistic.

So how is it known what the severity of his injury was/is? How do we know at this point it wasn't a 'season ending injury'?

His redshirt would not be injury related if he chose to redshirt. It wouldn't be an "injury redshirt". He has not played outside of an exhibition this year. He can choose to not play at all this year and redshirt. The "5 to play 4" rule if you will.

He can and should redshirt. If he does come back it needs to be now, just in time for the aggies. That might be the wrinkle we need to get past them. We need *something* at this point or we will be swept this season. This year's edition is one of the worst Lobo teams I have ever seen.

Weir said he was cleared by the Dr a couple of weeks ago and when Connor comes back is up to Connor.

    Just answering the question above.....

Though it should be noted that he participated minimally in a recent practice apparently, so good sign. Especially considering the swelling noted from the Evansville game.

Sorry for my confusion but if the doctor cleared him a couple weeks ago yet last week his ankle was very swollen how could he even get cleared? Also, I guess I missed the official diagnosis?

That would mean that Weir would not be offering a red shirt to him. It is ultimately up to the coach. Weir can decide to not offer him a scholly next season, even if Connor doesn't play this season. But were the coach willing, he technically could still take a red shirt season.

Sorry I don't think it has anything to do with Weir. It has to do with the nature of the injury. It must be a season-ending injury not one that simply hampers him and does not allow him to be at his best. Since he has been cleared by Dr he would have absolutely no chance of getting a medical Redshirt year

Cleared to play doesn't necessarily mean healthy or pain free. It just means that you could technically attempt to play through the injury, i.e., get a cortisone shot etc.

Nor would he need a medical redshirt year since he hasn't played a game this season. He would be able to take a regular redshirt year if needed.

He could do that, but I think he wants to play this year. However, he could graduate and go somewhere else rather than play here as well. He has been taking classes for quite awhile.

You just aren't following this. He can take a REGULAR REDSHIRT SEASON, since he has not yet used a redshirt season. He had 5 years to play 4 seasons. As of right now he has played 3 seasons and is on his 4th year. So if he sits out this season, he still has eligibility next season (on his 5th year). This has nothing to do with anything medical.

But again this is up tot the coach. If Weir doesn't want to allow him to play next season that is his choice. Scholarships are offered for one school year. There is no guarantee that there will be a next season.

Did you sprain and bruise it those three times you rolled it? Like, with the same impact that might occur during a D-1 basketball game? Why even say something like this? You want us to think you're tough?

I thought he had a bone bruise.

I feel silly posting in this thread.
My position as a moderator adds no validity to my opinions. I am a fan just like you and as such when I express a view it represents me and me alone and carries no more weight than any other fan other than the fact that I am always right. (Like everyone else.)

It's all good, I work with middle school kids and I feel silly with about half of what I do to keep them going and on track. Then I take it home and my wife thinks I'm regressing.

A quick internet search on that brings up info that is consistent with the timeline, swelling, etc. for MacDougall.

I don't remember declaring anything about my intestines, it is a fact that he was cleared to play a while back and coach said when he plays is up to him. Weir did say it was a pain issue. I didn't make this up, it's not my thread, or my ankle.

The only comments that I added were that I don't think he's going to make much of a difference in the outcomes of these games and that he's probably not going to be in game shape, especially given the style of play. Doesn't matter to me if he plays or not, I honestly haven't seen him play much at since he's been here. We could use a body to fetch 70% of our shots.
