If Debeese and Simmons go, Cosgrove HAS to go as well! He has simply not done a great job with development.

Now, let's see if Davie reaches into the "good ol' boy" employee pool to hire another friend he keeps around too long.

I REEEAALLY hope he hires the right person and not his buddies.

If next season is like this past season, Davie has to go. It will show that the game has passed him by.

Frankly, I was surprised that DeBesse was the one who got the ax. I thought if anyone would, it would be Cosgrove. DeBesse had one bad year, defense has never really had a good one. Still, with the exception of this past season, Davie has been as successful here as I could have really hoped. It is his decision and I am willing to support and see what happens next year. We need to get back to winning ways for sure.....

Cosgrove should have been fired before Coach D. Cosgrove has never had success as a DC, not at Nebraska, not at Minnesota, not at UNM.

At least UNM led the conference and nation in rushing under Coach D. UNM has never been close to leading the conference in any good defensive categories under Cosgrove.

    NO $hit!!!
I just don’t understand how some people don’t recognize this and still say Cosgrove is a great defensive mind.
I think it’s just because they are all P5 schools.
Cosgrove has been average every place he has coached. This is not about his character or him as a person… This is strictly football.

Well I'm very curious as to what Davie is up to. I know we needed the CB coach replaced. I guess it's wait and see.

I find myself being troubled by the tone in many of the posts I read. Like most of you, I don't think that either of the team's coordinators were doing a stellar job, and looking to replace them, at this point in time, is good for the team, in my opinion. But taking pleasure in the firing of these hard working men is dishonorable. Remember that they are the ones who decided to come the UNM when the program was, literally, the worst D1 program in the nation. That took guts, and a LOT of hard work followed to get the team where it is now. I wish them the best.

While I might disagree a bit with you regarding whether the coordinators have done a good or bad job, that is just football opinion - I 100% agree with you regarding the tone and apparent glee some have with hard working people losing their jobs and the vitriol spewed at them. I don’t get it - one can be of the opinion that someone is not best suited for a certain job without taking pleasure in their getting fired. Anybody that has ever lost a job while trying to support a family should have a bit more empathy.

These are jobs that can get fired even if working hard. Winning is the upmost. Good luck to these men that were let go in their next jobs.

I agree that whether these coaches are working hard or even if they are very good coaches, the head coach has to make tough decisions for the best interest of the team and program and they might just not be the right fit at the right time at the right place - that is not my issue. I'm just disappointed with some people that seem to take pleasure in others hardship even though those suffering the firing may very well be good hard working people (as Davie said they were). I thank them for their efforts on our behalf and wish them well in the future but recognize that Coach Davie has made the decision and hope he finds the new coaches that can do what he wants.

We threw the ball more this season than ever had before during the Davie Era.

Success from balance does not come from how much you throw it, has to do with when you theyrie it, what type of routes, using TE’s and having confidence to have someone back there that can do this.. We did none of the above..
