    MWC Games Dec 6 (Wed)

    First Post Banner
Nice road win for Utah State over BYU. They've been the biggest disappointment in our conference this year, so even though BYU isn't as good as in previous years, it's good to see them finally win one.

CSU lost at home to Colorado in a weird line score. CSU lost the 1st and 3rd quarters by double digits and won the 2nd and 4th quarters by double digits.

wow, didn't notice that we outscored Tech by 12 in both the 3rd and 4th quarters and outscored them in every quarter.

LLobos topped off the night with a 29 point 4th quarter. The crowd seemed absolutely delighted with Emily's 2 straight threes, both on assists from Laneah!

In another game of interest, Oklahoma lost their 4th straight game 67-61 at S. Dakota State. Their last loss was by 20 at home to Florida. Florida in turn got clobbered tonight at home by Ohio State 103-77.

The good news is that Oklahoma is very beatable. The bad news is that it likely won't be against a Top 50 team.

    But first, Navy...

Can't overlook Navy. Someone said they're a very scrappy team. Those are the teams you have to take care of the ball and just play hard and play your game. Tonight, we took great care of the ball with only 7 TO's.

With OK, you just never know in road games, but OK does seem to be in a funk since their 30+ point win in Fort Collins. However, both teams will have a week off and I'm sure Coale will have them practice hard this coming week.

Really, hope as someone mentioned, we can get 6K+ for the Navy game. Such a fun year, reminds me of the men's team from 09-10, when they won 14 straight to start the season. Only diff being, this team is blowing out teams by 20+ on most nights, the men's team, won a lot of games in the final minutes.

However, the common thread, was great chemistry and how well they played together and this team has it.

They looked pretty tough when they played Colo St. Don't know if that says more about Colo St or Oklahoma. They will probably be tougher at home, a lot of speed.

Navy has not played a big name resume but is 9-0 and has also won many of their games comfortably. Opposite from tonight, we will be the bigger team. We are not likely to have the big TO margin in our favor on Sunday. Bring out your friends and neighbors!

I think Colorado State has improved since they played Oklahoma. They lost tonight, but to a much better team than we played. (Sagarin had CU in the 40's and TTU at 200.)

If you've read any of my posts, I've pointed to issues with certain starters who really arent helping the team at all. CSU plays lousy to begin games for the most part and then comes roaring back with their second teamers. The coaches are being very patient right now but at some point they'll have to make some pretty big decisions regarding at least one starter if things continue. You just cant play 3 on 5 on the offensive end and expect to win.

Too many turnovers doomed the Rams against CU. 11 alone in the first quarter which is normally a game's worth. A much taller CU beat the Rams up on the boards and led to a huge free throw discrepancy (the FT discrepancy was aided by an officiating crew that couldnt count to 3). Lots of good came out of the game for the Rams as they somehow fought their way back and missed a game-tying 3 at the buzzer.

Oklahoma was talented but they arent very deep. They were also prone to fouling.

I think I saw where OU's starting post player did not play in this last game and South Dakota St does have a good program

If it is Pierre-Louis... she was the center on the team that beat Emily's sophomore year high school team in the regional final (the game right before the State Final Four) two years in a row. She's a big strong girl. I can still close my eyes and see her making 3 three pointers (she had a total of 2 for the season heading into that game).. that's right... not 1... or 2... but she made 3... in the second regional final when her team beat Emily's team by 1 point... literally at the buzzer. That team also had Neydja Pettihomme (currently plays at University of Miami).

Yes... the 6-4, 200 lb post player with a total of 2 treys all year headed into this game... made 3... and we STILL had a lead with 3 seconds to go... against a school with 2 top 100 recruits... and had Emily and some very very nice girls that just happen to love basketball... none of which went on to play at levels above NAIA...

anyway... it would be nice to beat Oklahoma.

But we need to beat Navy first.

    Go Lobos!
