I sort of don't get folks taking time on threads like this to say they don't care. If you don't care, that's fine. There are a lot of threads that I'm not interested in. I either don't go, based on the title, or I go, see that I'm not really interested in the discussion and click out of the thread. I don't feel the need to tell everyone when I'm not interested in a certain topic.
I know there's folks who think we should not be talking about the Aggies here. I tend to disagree. If you have no interest in the Aggies in general, we played them twice, so how they do in the rest of the schedule matters somewhat for the Lobos. But that said -- if the title of the thread has Aggies or NMSU in it, you are fully warned before you click. If you aren't interested, don't click.

Aggies will need to go undefeated the rest of the year and win their tourney to get a Big Dance bid. Maybe they could lose one more game and get in but I doubt it. The WAC is just too weak.
It was a good win for the Aggies. I switched over after the Arizona game and caught the last part of the second half and it was close at 3 points, then Aggies kicked up their defense and pulled away.
GCU is a solid program and Dan Majerle is a good coach building that program from the ground up.
He is just being funny, and expressing his disdain for all things Aggie. That's fine.. part of what makes the board fun. I appreciate the lighthearted dig at the Aggies .. .but also have to say, as much as they are "rivals", I am very happy to see them doing well. Good for New Mexico.

"As of Saturday night, it would appear the Mountain West Conference has two NCAA tournament-worthy teams. As long as they can find the remains of one of them."
I remember a post by Mark quite awhile ago that essentially supported the Lair being for all things college basketball. Of course it's a Lobo board first and foremost, but his inference was that if the discussion was on college basketball, then it was relevant to this board and wasn't necessarily an "OT" subject. I agree with timvracer that lighthearted digs at the Aggies are all in good fun. Sometimes things go beyond that....
I also appreciate AK1 giving credit to the job Jans is doing, as he is often outspoken against the Aggies.
For me any good press on NM's two D1 universities is a good thing. My home state takes a beating in the media and it skews the views of many. And yes, Majerle is doing a fine job at Grand Canyon.
Cue the late Spanna on mighty Grand Canyon. He called out that joke of school on here often.
"Thunder Dan" is overhyped and overpaid. How many years will he continue to be dominated by NMSU in the wacky WAC before some of that Phoenix heat is pointed his way? He's a Musselman wannabe without the results. Pretty good player in his day, though.
I'm not gonna go crazy just because NMSU beat a >200 rpi club, just like I am not going to go overboard with Lobo Basketball beating awful SJSU and the wildly inconsistent Pokes.
Majerle may have reached his ceiling at GCU, or not... He's certainly brought them from being a nobody to being a somebody in the world of college basketball. His teams have earned some surprising wins over the last couple of years and have shown an ability to hang with some pretty good competition. Because of those somewhat high profile upsets folks won't look past them anymore and the road will get tougher. I'd love to see them take another step in development. It would be great for the region. But yes, that's a tall order in the WAC.
My position as a moderator adds no validity to my opinions. I am a fan just like you and as such when I express a view it represents me and me alone and carries no more weight than any other fan other than the fact that I am always right.(Like everyone else.)
Our student section (or lack of one) could really learn from GCU.
Yeah I am pretty amazed he has stuck around there for so long. He clearly can build a decent program from the ground up if given the resources. 95% of schools in this country are jealous of their fan section. I know he is waiting for the Suns job, but I'm surprised another halfway decent program that doesn't have the academic stigma hasn't come calling for him.
