    Coach Davie Appeal Denied

    First Post Banner
I feel like UNM is trying to run coach off. I think they want him to resign.

I agree. This whole scenario reeks of wrongdoing thrown upon coach Davie.

There still a large number of fans that support UNM football and want it to succeed just like basketball and all the other sports! This look like an attack not only on the coach but the football program as well... am i reaching to far or do you all feel the same way!

I don't really think it's an attack on the football program. It seems to me that they may be trying to force Davie out. They can't fire him, because they can't afford another buyout. So maybe they're trying to get him to resign or negotiate a small buyout.

    I smell a lawsuit coming.

UNM is begging to be sued at this point. As if they can really afford that.

Kind of hard to believe that UNM would do this without some type evidence that they think they have. Seems very chancy just to cause a force-out.
    Who wants him out?
    Why?

I would be concerned that there is more to this story than has been presented publicly.

Honestly, my biggest fear is that Coach Davie will leave and the void will be filled with a coach like we've had before that practically killed the program. I've had the pleasure of spending some time with Coach and I can said that he's a quality individual who is an asset to the University, the Team and the community. Sadly, IMO, because of today's climate, the University is trying to appear politically correct. Unfortunately, it's at Davie's expense. And, the potential repercussions could be devastating at many levels; team cohesion, fan support, recruiting, etc. There is nothing good that will come from this.

Abdallah and UNM's Board of Regents is an absolute embarrassment to the state of New Mexico. Certainly, coach must have attorney friends that are salivating at the opportunity to sue UNM for their ludicrous conduct toward coach Davie.

    The fix is officially in.

Because it is obvious that they want him to quit Davie should call their bluff, not quit, and file a biga$$ lawsuit against UNM, the interim President, and the board of regents.

    Disgusting.

Is this a surprise? Abdallah is decidedly anti-athletics and is trying to make a name for himself among that faction as the door hits his...on the way out. If he had any respect for UNM, he would let the incoming President make this call. And consider further that the Board is going to react however Susana Martinez wants them to react. And she has shown herself to be anti-UNM from the political standpoint, especially when she was unable to control North Campus and then stronger after she failed to protect Craig Neal's job.

Abdallah would have loved to put an end to UNM athletics. Fortunately, he never gained that power.

Seems to me that the President should have suspended Krebs instead of Davie. I think he somehow he got the two confused.

This reinforces that there has to be more going on that just the preliminary report. Abdallah and the Board aren't fools and have to realize the potential for a public lawsuit. They must have more information than has been publicly released. A lawsuit by Davie could compel the release of this additional information. I don't believe the Board is trying to deliberately hurt the football program, that would be counter-productive to the whole university.

Obviously, the entire story has not been released.

What bothers me is that nobody at UNM seems be able to do anything to help Coach Davie! Got to believe that someone there has the common sense to realize something is definitely wrong with the situation and try to do the right thing, but looks like all people in power have their pens in the same ink! Yes, there is more to the story IMO, and it's being used to get Davie to resign and at the same time, avoid a much bigger lawsuit as Wyo infers. The UNM administration is between a rock and a hard place.

That could very well be the reason. Maybe the underlining story has more truth in it than they want to come out. It seems very peculiar based on the information that has already come out to suspend Coach Davie. Clearly the UNM administration must knows what the public feels about the handling of the athletic department over the last few years. Why would they go down this path unless their is more damaging information about the football program.

I will be very surprised if Davie decides to stay after this. I think we can all too easily recall the dismal state of the program when he took over. It's sobering to think what happens next.

There is more going on than what has been made public. The suspension would not have been upheld if that wasn't the case. Have confidence in Nunez to make a good hire and quit worrying about what if Davie goes when you can just look at his record and see that he hasn't been all that great especially lately. Nunez isn't going to give us another Mike Locksley.

No, that is not necessarily the case considering that Mike Sheppard is the new AD's BFF...

So why would UNM administration want to fire Davie? We all know he came in a rescued the football program. Davie hasn't been tied to the Krebs golfing or other athletic department blunders/fiascos.

I can't believe our new AD ist rying to fire him. What would Abdallah gain by this "last act" as his tenure as President ends?
