St. Mary's reminds me of Wyoming with their physical size. They also try to pound the ball inside, drive the rim and crash the glass as much as possible.

Maybe they don't get back in transition as quick as some teams, so possibly we may have an advantage there. Also have issues with high TO's, so if we can turn them over and convert on the other end, it may help offset their size and rebounding prowess.

Appears their 3 leading scorers are all along their front-line of 6'3", 6'1", 6'0". They combine for 45 point per game and 22 rebounds per game. Outside of those 3 players, no player averages more than 7 ppg or 3.2 rpg. Those are the three main players that make their engine go, similar to Jaisa, Cherise and Tesha.

They shoot 32.6% from 3 overall, but have one player, Madeline Holland who shoots it at 42.9% on 91 attempts. FT shooting is below avg at 67.4%. They do out-rebound opponents though 39.9-29.1 or +10.8. They have 479 assists vs. 556 TO's, so that's less than avg.

This will be an interesting match-up. Will be curious to see if Bradbury inserts AA to try to match their size so we don't get destroyed on the glass or if we try to counter with our guard speed, and try to put a press on them, try to turn them over and get transition buckets, but also give up rebounds? Or can you have the best of both. AA on front-line and still press them? I think you can and go at least 8 deep, so we can keep the press up all game? Might be important at altitude when St. Mary's plays at sea level.

BSU was up 12 in the 4th and had numerous TO's, gave up numerous rebounds and couldn't make shots. Complete turnaround from first 3 quarters. BSU got outscored 20-8 in the 4th.

I'm sure they will try to play 2/3 players on Jaisa and take their chances laying off our 3 point shooters.

Closing out games was BSU's problem in OOC. Apparently, they figured it out by the time conference started.

This game will be a challenge no doubt about it but I'm trusting that the coaching staff and players are up for it! Are the fans up for it???.....that could help make a difference!
    See you all there!

Have we ever shot well in Johnson gym? Maybe we have, but I remember a lot more games where we didn't. It's almost like a neutral court, especially if the referees over-compensate like they often do to show the fans they won't be intimidated.

St Mary's is quite a bit better than teams we've lost to in recent post-seasons. We're going to have to bring our A game.

Is playing in Johnson an edge to St. Marys with the gyms they play conference games in??

I just hope we are practicing there this entire week to get used to the rims and back-round and lighting there. Quite a bit different from the PIT. Heck, we might just shoot a little better there?

It should be considered a neutral site game because it's not our home court. Don't they consider the Thomas& Mack a neutral site for UNLV women's games?

Technically, yes. In any event it's hard to complain about UNLV having an advantage when they've never won the MWC tournament in twenty years!

They play the old style double post system with entry passes from the corner or high to low. Their 6-3 post McKay is very good. Jaisa and Tesha are going to have their hands full. We'll need to really harass the players with the ball so they can't make the entry passes, similar to how we defended Wyoming in the first half of the tournament. Hopefully, we can keep it up for 40 minutes this time.

It would be good if Tesha can make them pay on the other end for playing two posts.

If Tesha gets tired guarding another bigger post, will she be able to shoot well? Another game to possibly have Tesha, AA, and Jaisa in together for some extended minutes.
