UNM Hospital First Class -Transplant Unit

    First Post Banner
I would like to publicly thank the UNM Kidney Transplant Team. I received a transplant on May 8, 2018. The team, doctors, nurses, technician and cleaning crew were all spectacular to their approach and the outcome has been life-changing for me. I know this isn't directly related to basketball, but for me personally, it is. I have missed the last two Vegas Tournaments because I was really to sick to travel. I will be ready for next season to see them cut down the nets! Other travel, such as AF, CSU, and Wyo had also been curtailed the last 5 years; it was difficult to get a dialysis clinic close enough to make it feasible to travel to these places.

Now I have a new kidney, donated by someone's loved one, who unfortunately had to pass. I waited nine years for this transplant, and the donor lives somewhere in Provo, Utah. I now have a little BYU in me, but I will gladly pay that price.
Heres to new energy, mobility, and cutting down the nets next March in Las Vegas!

Congrats. I too give many thanks to the staff of UNMH. We should be proud to have that facility in Albuquerque. BTW as witnessed by your good fortune, everyone should be an organ donor.

I wish you nothing but continued health going forward on your new start. We can talk about our sports, agree or disagree at times, but we all want nothing but the best for one our of own. I will keep you, and the family of the donor, in my thoughts and prayers.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. - Herm Albright

Congrats, Austin, and good health going forward. I too am very proud of UNMH and the UNM Health Science Center, although I am a member of Pres. senior care. We are all very fortunate to have 3 excellent hospital systems here in the Duke city. It is one of the reasons we chose to remain here for our retirement years. All the best to you and prayers for the family of the donor.
