http://www.theadvocate.com/new_orlea...dc6d0cf05.html . Another site shows he also had an offer from Georgia!

Wow! beat out some P5s including SECs
Big 10 & Pac 10. Guess after all the "allegations" Davie just can't land a recruit.

Wow! To receive a commit this early and a 3* QB at that is impressive.

Agree but but for me, far more impressive than the 3* rating is who all offered him - Ga., Tenn., Az., Ind. , Ga. Tech amongst others. Now maybe some of them wanted him as a DB or athlete but I don't care - beating P5s for a kid is big time IMO.

I have to think this is a Calvin Magee grab, especially if Arizona was in the mix before.....

He just tweeted this 30 minutes ago.... Another Nola Savage to #LOBO19 .. Whole City gone be in there .. Does this mean we got another commit from New Orleans or is he referring to himself?

Thank you Travis for choosing UNM to showcase your diverse skill set. What a get! From the clip shown in the link below, what an arm, accurate, precise and his mobility skills. Amazing.

Dang. Those 6-3 linebackers are going to have to get down low to tackl this guy. Probably like catching a water bug. More speed!

On one site it says he had an offer from Ga. Man, if so, that's some grab! In any event, welcome to Lobo world and we look forward to seeing your speed on display - likely catching passes from your NO buddy. Speed burns whether its at the slot or RB.

The interesting thing is, even at 5'5, 247 still rates him out at 3-stars. I can see the lack of offers, 5'5 is a bit risky, but the reward could be worth it for us.

Rocky always liked his RBs to be strong safety size (6'0+, 200 lbs+), and used them to punish people. Davie seems to be much more comfortable just going for speed, quickness, and athleticism. It's paid off. This kid should be no exception.

What I like about Mumphey is that when the pocket breaks down he doesn't just tuck the ball and run, he scrambles out of the pocket and keeps his eyes down field and tries to make the throw. He CAN run, but it looks like he's wanting to throw first, run second.

both types have real value and the system dictates which might be a better fit. The system also predicts what your O-line looks like too. Of course, its really nice when you can find a RB with "all the above."

With this get, I am only going to assume we will be opening up that passing game this year. If we do I will put money on it that the Lobo world is about to get bigger. Our O will become even more exciting to watch, and that will pull in more of a crowd, it will also help pull some great D talent. If this year pans out, Davie and his staff will catapult UNM into great conversations. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽

Just in case you don't keep up with football recruiting at the very top schools, these days there are "offers" and "committable offers." For example, UGA "offered" at least 22 QBs by last summer and the one that the eventually gave the one scholarship they were going to give out for the QB position went to the #1 player in the nation, Justin Fields.

Mumphrey looks like a great pickup for us but don't think we beat our Georgia for a QB that they really wanted for more than a preferred walkon.
