    alford, Duke, Gonzaga & others have proven that there shouldn't be a correlation in academic poor performance &
    increased athletic prowess or "on the court results" - it's a matter of good recruiting, leadership's emphasis and plain ole hard work which Weir demands in so far as the basketball component of the program is concerned - I'm hopeful he is/will do the same for the classroom.

    only somewhat true...those schools SELECT from the cream of the crop...then the others recruit from the rest...

    now but they always had high academic standards. In any event, it appears that this last semester men's b-ball had the lowest of any sport - men's or women's. IMHO, that bar is way,way too low. I believe Weir will right the ship and he needs to do so by setting high expectations and enforcing them just as he does with "effort" on the court, he can with effort in the classroom - believe or leave.
