    Towson transfer Zane Martin

    First Post Banner
Appears to be considering the Lobos and some stiff competition. A sit one, play two transfer who averaged 20/4/3 last year. Looks like he would fit our system just right...

    https://cbbcentral.com/2018/06/26/to...-on-the-board/

Can confirm a @JonRothstein report that Towson transfer Zane Martin is on an official visit to Seton Hall. Sit one, play two guard is down to Clemson, Gonzaga, New Mexico, and the Pirates

Nice to have our name on lists like that again. Some pretty good players in that Top 10. Jefferson is a mighty might of a player. Aggies have a shot at the North Dakota. Noticed one player was a decommit from Nevada, does that put tbem even on schollies/commits now?

    Go Lobo Recruiting Staff.

So I’ll ask the $21,000 question, where does the scholarship come from?

A scorer supreme. Would be the perfect guy to have waiting in the wings in case Jaquan or Vance goes to the draft. But, yeah, where would the spot come from?

This is next year's class we're talking about: We have 2 seniors and average 2-4 transfers. Another 2-3 guys have nba potential: So zane could get 1 of about 6 scholarships

while he wouldn't be eligible to play this year, I think the way it would work is he would redshirt this year (like Lyle & Jackson last yr) but he would be taking a schollie for this year which would (assuming Bragg , Agee & McGee all qualified and on schollie) make us one over.

Coach did mention UNM may still come up in current 2018 recruiting, as they never stop recruiting. He mentioned that it's possible one of the new guys decides during or after summer work-outs they are not quite cut out for this caliber of training.

Hopefully, they all do work out, but it seems now, the summer training sessions may weed out an occasional player or two, that is just not cut out for it.

Looks like he’s visiting this weekend!

Per a source, Towson transfer Zane Martin will take an official visit to New Mexico this weekend. Sit one, play two guard will decide amongst UNM, Seton Hall, and Clemson after the visit. Averaged an efficient 19.8 PPG last season

If Zane Martin is in, somebody else is out. I sure would like to hear that McGee and Bragg are still on track to play for the Lobos this season. Bragg and McGee take the Lobo's roster to another level in talent and depth.

Wow! This going to lead to some anxiety for Lobo fans as we wait to find out who will not be playing for the Lobos next season.

It looks like a possible rain this weekend. I can see Coach Weir and his staff adding yet another talented player to the BB Program. Look for Martin to jump on that available scholarship and sit out the year working on his game as a Lobo.

So are all the loyal lobo fans already ready to jettison Agee. I think that rather than going there, prefer to just let it all play out - all we can do anyway other than possibly being a bit cruel. Just my preference.

Not sure about All. So much is going on, and I think most fans want to see the roster get finalized. But it does sound like there are some risks with a few players not yet listed on the roster. I do see a need for everyone, especially two.

    1. Underneath, if Bragg can play starting in November, I believe we will be real solid underneath. Otherwise, Agee's size and minutes can be a plus.

    2. At point, we need McGee' minutes in November too.

So if things work out for November for both Bragg and McGee, I feel real comfortable with the roster.

Otherwise, (Bragg, McGee, Agee, and maybe Martin next year), all I can do is wait.

Just got done with the father son lobo basketball camp and I ran into Zane. He seemed like a great kid with a great head in his shoulders. Also, he was with his parents and they were very nice too. Zane was laughing and seemed like he is enjoying his trip so far. He was happy that I called him by his name and said be a lobo Zane.

Also, Keith McGee was in the house running one of the stations at the camp. He was awesome. He said hes excited, but still in school and there is no doubt hes going eligible. Hes is going to be something special. Hes very athletic and the coaches talked very highly of him. Also, he treated my kids great and he won me over just with his great attitude and demeanor.

    Team update
we look BIG! We are going to b a whole lot more dominant down low this year. After camp, the team practiced and I got also got to see a glimpse of whats in store for the up and coming season. Carlton Bragg is going to be the X factor. He is a freak athlete and can shoot the 3. He was very respectful and a great young kid too. I just have to say that all of our kids (team) were amazing. They are great ambassadors for our school. I just remember a few years back when we had players who are not here anymore and they were too cool for school. This is not that bunch. They are down to earth and are going to give it their all for Lobonation. Manigault has the biggest wingspan on the team at around 7ft. Our freshman look big and going to fit in just fine. Jaquan lyle is smooth and just an all around leader. Vance is another weapon we have that is going to start from day one. He has size and can be a mist match for opposing teams. Coach said they are waiting on a big name school to decide when they can fit into our schedule this year and then they will turn around and come to the pit the following year. He also said that he and Alford are in talks all he time about getting UCLA to come here. It was mentioned that it could possibly be as soon as next year!!

I am so lost. Where did anybody say they were ready to jettison anybody? I don't see anything but a few folks scratching their heads about where the scholly comes from, and a few others hoping it's not from a couple of the new guys they see potentially good things from.

It seems to me that if Coach Weir has set up this visit, something is afoot with one of the '13' we thought would be our roster moving forward.

I do agree with you that we should let it play out.

We were at the Lobo camp too and there was great mojo all around. At the very end, Zane was donning full lobo uniform for some photo ops. Not a given but the signs were positive.

A couple of tidbits to add...Percy looks like a sneaky good freshman, Vance will be unstoppable this year, and Karim was a freakishly athletic and fairly polished long big. Seems like last year's guys seemed to be more developed as Dane hardly missed and was vocal and leading by example. Vlad looked vastly improved offensively as well.

Word of the day was "talk"! They were hammering on that message and I was blown away by how much they talked in the flow of the offense. Unlike most traditional sets communicated by coaches, this offense clearly thrives on players making reads and communicating with each other.

We should all be really pumped for the upcoming season. I was very impressed today. The camp was a really cool format, all the kids loved it, the dads are up the access, and everyone involved with with program from the players, to the coaches and their kids, to PW was great. Proud Lobo today!

Thank you too for the inside scoop from the camp! Sounds like Weir is putting his stamp on the program already. Can't wait for the season to start.
