Awesome! Have we ever beat out the Zags for a recruit before?

Not that I remember. I also don't remember the Lobos getting transfers from UCONN, Ohio State, and Kansas, coming in and being eligible the same season either.

The rest of MWC needs to Fear Weir! (which incidentally would make a great forum name) :)

Also, Zane was considering Clemson as a final choice and if I remember correctly, we did have another player who we were able to commit to UNM when another one of his finalists was Clemsonhttp://thelobolair.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17722 and he turned out to be a pretty good player.....

This is a huge signing. Gives us an experienced explosive scorer not knowing who may declare or stay after next season and for sure losing Mathis and Dane.

Ok. Grammar answered my question. On paper I thought Agee was the weakest of the bunch and he would have had a hard time earning minutes

Wow, If Coach Weir is able to recruit like this to a program that has been down for four years, what will he be able to do for a program that is a consistant Top 25, Top 10 program?

Between the three JC transfers, Agee was the only full-time starter and had, by far, the bests stats.

That's the thing that concerns me when we get commits from these guys...sure great to get them but...then what happens who leaves?...do we then run someone off.? is a current player urged to look elsewhere?..

But he couldn’t get his acedemics done, so might as well get a highly sought after guard for next season.

We will be fine with Carlton, Karim, Corey and Vlad.

I have a feeling this guy is going to be a bull of a guard. Lobos have been missing a strong guard who can shoot for a while.

According to Grammer's article this really does sound like a situation where Agee couldn't get accepted by the admissions office.

On your broader point I think timing is key. I really don't think Weir would force someone out at this late date unless it was for disciplinary reasons. However, I think you could see it in April and May. That gives the kid time to find another home. Like it or not that's where we are right now in college athletics, and if you don't play the game you're liable to be left behind.

Having less money is simply not an option for UNM at this time. We must get back to packing the PIT.

There are always options (schollie waivers, coach salary reductions, larger fan contributions - who knows) but for me (not speaking for you or anyone else) selling your soul and or principles is truly not an option - if we can't be successful without lying and misleading kids and their parents, then its just not worth it to me. I am not saying at all that is what is happening with Agee (see above) - just talking in general regarding college athletics and life. While I love Lobo b-ball, football and sports in general, they are not worth the integrity of my Alma Mater or for me to embrace hypocrisy.

You are really jumping to conclusions ! For goodness sake, none of us know the details of what was involved. Give Weir and the coaching staff a little bit of credit. So far they have acted with a lot of integrity and, in my opinion, have demanded the same of their team.
