    Fall practice

    First Post Banner
    When does it start?

Iím excited to see the new offense, a new QB throwing (and running) the show, and what I believe to be the best defense Coach Davie has had at UNM (for many reasons).

Lots of WR talent and depth as well. Should be a very fun year.

Colorado State Universityís subsidy trails only Air Force ($33.3 million) and San Diego State ($24.3 million) in the Mountain West and is nearly double that of New Mexico ($11.6 million), which is at the bottom of the list.

    - A lot of talented 3 star recruits are coming off red-shirt years. Several JC players over the past 2 years were BCS rebounders. I believe we will see an increase in skills and talent across the board most evident in the secondary.

    - This is an upperclass laiden team. Several seniors in key positions at all levels (DL, LB, DB). This player driven leadership will elevate the defenses play.

    - With the combination of upperclassmen, young talent, and new JC additions depth will help sustain play. Also (and this is across the board in NCAA), players can play 4 games and still red-shirt. This will help depth too.

    - The defense will now face a more “traditional” college offense. Historically 1v1’s didn’t help the defense because they were facing a triple option offense. With the new run/spread offense the D will have more opportunities to practice and become better at defending against it.

Lobos have size upfront and size in the middle. They have added length and talent in the back. I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised on how well they play this year. The D will win games and make UNM bowl eligible again.

    Go Lobos.
