    EndWar

Has anybody played Tom Clancy's Endwar yet? I got it for my son for Christmas and I think it is the type of game I will enjoy playing. I am not good at shooter games but detailed strategy games are my thing. I dominate Civilization IV online but my younger son (8 years old) will destroy me at Gear of War or COD4. It's quite frustrating. Is Endwar more of a shooter of a strategy game? From what I've read it is more strategy.

Also...these are the games that my kids have gotten for Christmas from me and other family members:

    Fable II
    COD5
    Mortal Kombat VS Marvel
    GOW2
    Guitar Hero World Tour
    Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
    Dead Space
    Mercenaries 2

My older son is turning 13 soon and we got him the full set-up for Guitar Hero World Tour. He is amazing on the guitar. On Xbox Live he is ranked in the top 200 players out of several million on this game. I can't even get through the medium difficulty and he has five stars on all the songs at the highest difficulty. He is also VERY good at COD4. I am lucky to break even when playing online play whereas he'll get 25 kills to every one death. He hates it when I play because I "mess up his stats". The game has amazing graphics though so I do enjoy it even when I die. I hope COD5 has the same or better graphics.

Also...as for the games mentioned, I never pay full-price. I negotiate with people on Craigslist until I find the deal I like. I haven't paid over $40 for any games other than Guitar Hero World Tour. I am still considering buying Left 4 Dead and/or Legendary if the price is right.

EndWar is a strategy game, I haven't played myself but most Tom Clancy games end up being good/great.

Fable II: I haven't played this one either but a lot of people on my friends list have. They all really seem to like it.

COD5: Everything that was in the 4th is in this one.

Mortal Kombat VS Marvel: Good game. I had my doubts about it but I ended up liking it.

GOW2: see thread in this forum. Also great game to play co-op.

Guitar Hero World Tour: If your son liked the previous GH games he will really like this one especially since it comes with drums and a mic so you can sing now. I've played them all and I really like World Tour because of its playlist.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Good game also I just never finished the game

Dead Space: This game reminded me of the movie Event Horizon. If your easily scared I wouldn't recommend it.

Mercenaries 2: I really liked this game but didn't get a chance to finish it. To many other games were released that I wanted to play.

Songs in Bold are one's I really like to play.

Thanks for your response. He has played World Tour at the wal-mart and said it would take a while to get used to the full-sized guitar. I know he'll like all the games I got him and will kick my butt at everything other than possibly Endwar and maybe Mortal Kombat...only because that was my game as a teenager. We used to play the arcade version up at our local Truckstops for hours and hours.

I know all about "Event Horizon". I am a sci-fi geek and read a lot about wormholes and space travel. Because of this Event Horizon peaked my interest. Not all that scarry and not as detailed or accurate as I'd like (again I am a sci-fi geek).

I'm not a big GOW fan. I think the players move too slow and feel too bulky. I like the ranking system in COD as well which GOW does not have. I'm looking forward to getting my butt kicked in COD5. WWII is an interesting time and war.

Thanks for the synopsis, I'm sure my son will like all of the games he got him.

There's an animated movie(prequel to the game) on Dead Space showing what happened to the ships crew.

COD5: After you beat the storyline you unlock a game mode called "Nazi Zombies". This is were wave after wave of zombies come at you, it starts out easy at first but the higher you get the harder it is to kill them.

That is cool about the animated movie. I'll check it out when my son plays the game.
