After Tuesday’s 100-65 loss to the New Mexico State Aggies, UNM is hoping to bounce back by taking a win over the Saint Mary’s Gaels on Friday afternoon. New Mexico soccer player Simon Spangenberg was named the Google Cloud Academic All-America® of the Year for Division I men’s soccer. The announcement was made by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Freshman Ahlise Hurst was this week’s Mountain West Player of the Week. She is the third straight player from the New Mexico women’s basketball team to receive this honor. The previous week it was Aisia Robertson. The week before that it was Jaisa Nunn.
Hurst hit nine three-pointers and recorded a total of 39 points, the most points scored by a freshman in Lobo history, during New Mexico’s 84-80 win over Oklahoma on Nov. 28.
The team is in the middle of a three-game stretch on the road. Although it’s not the first time the Lobos hit the road this season, Paul Weir said this was more “business-oriented” since everyone knows what to expect.
