New Mexico represented in 2019 MLB Draft

The University of New Mexico baseball program was represented in the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft through a few different players.

Pitcher Justin Slaten, who just finished his junior year as a Lobo, was selected by the Texas Rangers during the third round as the 86th overall pick. This is the highest draft selection for UNM since 2017 when Luis Gonzalez also went in the third round (87). The MLB team fits him well as he is a Texas native. Mang and Slaten named All-Mountain West

The Mountain West conference announced post-season award on Thursday. Two New Mexico baseball players were recognized. Jared Mang was named to the first team, while Justin Slaten was named to the second team.

Malachi Emond: Nothing comes easy

Birmingham earns 1,200th career win

The Lobos finished their last home series of the 2019 season with a 3-2 victory against the UNLV Rebels on Sunday. This became head coach Ray Birmingham’s 1,200th college career win. The result was even more special as it was Senior Day for six players, and it happened on the same weekend the team honored Jackson Weller, a Lobo who passed away on May 4.
