Hugh Greenwood still remembers the sound New Mexico fans made when he had the ball in his hands. “Huuuuuuuuugh” was heard though every corner of The PitHe loved every second of it.

The Australian athlete was at UNM from 2011-2015 playing under Steve Alford and Craig Neal. He has been away from basketball for a couple years now, but he still has fond memories of his time with the cherry and silver jersey. Through his four years as a Lobo, he was part of a successful roster that took the trophy in the Mountain West Tournament three years in a row. Bayron Matos viene a Nuevo Mexico

Bayron Matos arrived to Albuquerque on Friday afternoon. He announced he was committing to the New Mexico Lobos 24 hours later.

The class of 2020 player announced it through social media by saying he was “150% committed.”

At 6’9″ Matos is definitely a big win for the UNM men’s basketball staff. The three things he listed that he was looking for in a school were a sense of family, play time right away and a Spanish speaking community/culture. New Mexico meets all of those requirements.

@cisabelg

I attended the first New Mexico men’s basketball Women’s Walkthrough on Thursday and I thought it would be fun to share the overall experience and talk about some of the inside access stuff that was shown.

I’ve never attended the football clinic, but I’ve heard that one has participants do a lot of the workouts that players do. That’s what I thought this event would be like but it was actually more of a behind-the-scenes kind of thing. My job requires me to spend a lot of time at The Pit but there were some things I actually hadn’t seen before. So if you’re looking for a good basketball workout this is not for you. But if you’re wanting to see the facilities and get a good sense of what players and staff do on a daily basis, it’s worth checking out.
