New Mexico is close to the middle of the season and despite a good start, things haven’t gone that well lately. The Lobos will try to snap their three-game losing streak this weekend as they go on the road to face the Florida Atlantic Owls.

While the UNM offense has scored 12 goals already, it has allowed opponents the same amount. The Lobos have yet to record a clean sheet this year, and this could be their chance. FAU’s offense hasn’t been very hot, as the Owls have only scored three goals so far. New Mexico surpassed that amount during its season opener while taking down the then-No. 22 Seattle 4-2. Freshman Omar Grey has five goals alone.

The Owls went 2-14 last year. This season seems to have more potential, as they have already picked up two victories, currently holding a 2-3 overall record and 1-0 in Conference USA. While the Lobos are second-to-last place in the C-USA standings with zero points, the Owls are tied for third/fourth place with three.

Last weekend, New Mexico fell 2-1 to Old Dominion. Freshman Alex Fetterly started on goal for the first time in his career, replacing Ford Parker. Fetterly allowed the first goal of the night less than two minutes into the game. However, he finished the match with seven saves, almost 78 percent of the shots he was challenged with.

On the goal for ODU is Hagay Jalon, who is averaging 5.60 saves per game. This ties him for 10th nationally, while his 28 total saves ties him for 29th. The Owls have allowed opponents 11 goals this season, one less than New Mexico.

When the two teams met last year, New Mexico took at 3-1 victory at home.
