All the favorites punched their ticket to the next round except for the #2 New Mexico Lobos who found themselves falling to the #7 seed San Diego State Aztecs in overtime. This is looking like a pattern as it’s the third year in a row that the #7 seed upsets the #2.

Results:

  • #1 Boise State 72, #8 Nevada 67
  • #4 Fresno State 66, #5 UNLV 55
  • #2 New Mexico 61, #7 San Diego State 70
  • #3 Wyoming 64, #6 Utah State 41

WBB Mountain West Awards

The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team got four players represented in the Mountain West postseason awards.

  • Jaisa Nunn was named Player of the Year and made the 10-player All-Mountain West Team.
  • Aisia Robertson is the Newcomer of the year and also part of the All-Mountain West Team. If that wasn’t enough, the junior was included in the All-Defensive team.
  • Nike McClure was in the All-Defensive Team
  • Jayla Everett is the Freshman of the Year and got an All-MW Honorable Mention Team selection

Aisia Robertson out for the season

New Mexico redshirt junior Aisia Robertson came down during Thursday’s match against Wyoming and had to be carried off the court. She had an MRI done this weekend and the results showed a torn left ACL. Robertson needs surgery and will be out for the rest of the season.

This season she was the team’s second most consistent scorer averaging 14.3 points per game. She led in steals with a total of 68.
